Sunlight Through the Leaves
We smile and laugh as we sit under the trees,
And I look at the sunlight shining through the small leaves.
I am filled with the warmth of my once more colorful days,
When my strength, my resolve was all that I needed.
My life whisked away along the currents of time,
And it joined me here, as the trees sway gently.
Their leaves fly up, far, far away,
To the timeless realms I hope to see some day.
I am a senior in college, and I have just been made to write poetry for a Chinese history class.
I haven’t written a poem since 9th grade.
Excuse the Japanese title.
